Is Hamilton Island Expensive?
Hamilton Island is very very expensive. There is a lot of choice for food but is extremely overpriced e.g. packet of chips in Reef View Hotel lobby $7.90. (would cost $2 at safeway). Tours and activities on the island are also expensive with prices for day trips exceeding $500 for a family of 4.
Is it better to stay in Airlie Beach or Hamilton Island?
Hamilton Island is rather big, has shops, even a school, but I feel you would probably enjoy Airlie, many more restaurants to choose from and a lot cheaper, not that big, easy to walk around, much more varied and cheaper accommodation there too.
